Anita Giraldo is an educator, designer and installation artist living and working in New York City. She has created site-specific installations, photographic documentaries and fine art print series which have been exhibited in New York City, and throughout the United States and Europe. She is currently an associate professor of media technology and design at the New York City College of Technology (CUNY) in Brooklyn New York.

1996: See My Voice, the Adams Landing Arts Center, Cincinnati (Curated).Exhibition of a series of sppech-animated photographs. Each piece contains a multimedia playback unit designed to play when the viewer crosses a sensor.

1991: Urban Ghosts, the Municipal Art Society, New York (Curated). A photo documentary on the forgotten historical burial structures around New York City.

2020: PSC CUNY Research grant for Democracy Spoken Here, a series of typographic art pieces using a variety of print methods to express the American progressive discourse in a particularly turbulent political era.

2014: PSC CUNY Research grant for Finding the Sky, a multi-media installation. photographed throughout South America, illustrating the story of a centenarian’s travels.

2011: PSC CUNY Research grant for Steel Ice & Stone, a multi-media installation exhibited public galleries throughout the New York metropolitan area.

2005: The Puffin Foundation Artist Fellowship Grant to travel to the Mississippi delta and photograph the ship building industry in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

1989: National Endowment for the Arts for Documentary Photography: Urban Ghosts, a documentary of unknown gravesites throughout the New York City Area.

1985: New York Council on the Arts Fellowship (NYSCA) to photograph the architecture of Queens cemeteries.
